First American Data Security Incident Class Action Investigation

Abington Cole + Ellery is currently conducting a class action investigation regarding a reported data security incident affecting approximately 885 million personal financial, mortgage and tax records in the possession of title-insurance provider First American Title Insurance Company (an affiliate of First American Financial Corporation).

If you used First American Title Insurance Company as part of a transaction (as either buyer or seller) between approximately 2003 and May 24, 2019, your information may have been part of this data security incident.

It is being reported that 885 million property-transaction records stored in an online database and belonging to presumably tens of millions of real-estate buyers and sellers were not been adequately protected and were left exposed to anyone with an interest in collecting the data. Reports indicate information that was part of the incident includes: names, mailing addresses, home addresses, Social Security numbers, drivers' license images, bank account numbers and mortgage and tax records. Many of the exposed documents were reportedly wire transaction records with bank account numbers and other personal data from home or real estate buyers and sellers.
