DirectBuy Class Action Investigation
An investigation is currently being conducted regarding DirectBuy, Inc. ("DirectBuy").
DirectBuy is a purchasing club that charges consumers thousands of dollars in membership fees in exchange for the ability to purchase merchandise that has not been marked-up. DirectBuy represents to consumers that they will be charged the same wholesale price DirectBuy pays for goods. DirectBuy justifies its high membership rates by representing to consumers that DirectBuy only makes money from the membership fees. According to a Complaint filed in federal court, however, DirectBuy receives millions of dollars in discounts, rebates, and other perquisites from suppliers, which it does not pass on to its members.
